Dr Federico Campos MD MSc
Deputy Medical Director / Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist
Dr Federico Campos is a Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist (medical doctor) and our Deputy Medical Director and specialises in neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD and Autism) and mental health conditions. He first started collaborating with Dr Giovanni Giaroli whilst working in the North East London NHS Foundation Trust service in 2014.
He firmly believes that excellent care can only stem from the integration between physical and mental health accessible through the use of expertly balanced psycho-social and pharmacological interventions. Dr Campos combines in-depth knowledge in the use of such treatments with lifestyle interventions and balanced nutrition to achieve the best possible outcomes in mental health.
Dr Campos graduated in Medicine and Surgery in Trieste, Italy, where he also worked as a primary care physician. Following his move to the UK and a period spent working in general and acute medicine, he trained in psychiatry within the NHS and he is currently an Honorary Psychiatrist within North East London NHS Foundation Trust.
Alongside his clinical experience in diagnosing and managing neurodevelopmental conditions, he underwent specialist training in assessing patients with ADHD and Autism
Dr Campos collaborates in our centre’s multidisciplinary setting which delivers the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) and ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised) or 3Di (Developmental, Dimensional & Diagnostic Interview) as pioneered by the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, for formal diagnoses of Autism where required.
Dr Campos has attended several courses and masterclasses educating him in a range of psychological interventions which he continues to integrate with the psychiatric care of his patients. He has a special interest in ADHD across the lifespan and an expertise in identifying the different presentations that are typical of each age group. He is one of our centre’s specialist in the diagnosis and management of ADHD in adults.
Dr Campos has a passion for teaching and, due to his ongoing commitment to high quality education, he was awarded his current role of Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer within at the prestigious Centre for Psychiatry at Queen Mary University of London.
To further his knowledge of the latest treatments and scientific studies, Dr Campos holds a consulting role with a number of pharmaceutical companies and is regularly invited to deliver talks on pharmacological treatments and lifestyle interventions mainly focused on the link between physical and mental health.
Dr Campos believes in the use of evidence-based complementary therapies where appropriate. He holds a Certificate in Nutritional Psychiatry (University of Colorado, USA) and a Masters Degree in Western Medical Acupuncture (Italian Acupuncture Association). He is a lecturer in medical acupuncture as well as the President of the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
