Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr Rajinder Kaur is a highly experienced Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist (medical doctor) with a CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and has worked in the NHS as a Consultant since 2014 and where Dr Kaur continues to work on a part-time basis alongside her work at The Giaroli Centre. Over her many years of experience Dr Kaur has worked as a Consultant in Tier 3 NHS CAMHS teams as well as having been a Crisis Team Consultant in addition to providing active input in Tier 4 CAMHS settings.
Dr Kaur has expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental health difficulties in children and adolescents however her special interest areas are neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD and Autism) and neuropsychiatry. Dr Kaur is also trained in various psychotherapeutic models for young people and in systemic intervention for parents. Dr Kaur is also involved in training and teaching undergraduate and post graduate psychiatry trainees.
Dr Kaur collaborates in our centre’s multidisciplinary setting which delivers the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) and ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised) or 3Di (Developmental, Dimensional & Diagnostic Interview) as pioneered by the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, for formal diagnoses of Autism where required.
Dr Kaur was trained at the prestigious South London & Maudsley NHS Trust (SLaM) and had her higher training from Imperial College (London) and the prestigious Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (London) where she gained gain expertise in assessing and treating young people in inpatient settings.
Dr Kaur is highly approachable and engages strongly with young people, to ensure they receive the utmost care and treatment during the assessment, diagnosis and treatment stages of their care.
Dr. Kaur’s General Medical Council (GMC) registration is 6051473 and she is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych).
