Dr Ritu Mitra MBBS MRCPsych
Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr Ritu Mitra is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist (medical doctor) who graduated from the Royal Free & University College London Medical School and is highly specialised in helping young people with neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD and Autism) and working with their families to help support them.
Alongside Dr Mitra’s work here at The Giaroli Centre she also works as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Westminster Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at the prestigious Central & North West London (CNWL) NHS Trust as Lead of the Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Intellectual Disabilities Team, where she supports young people with ADHD and/or Autism alongside any comorbid conditions such as anxiety, depression, tics and Tourette’s and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
Dr Mitra is passionate about higher education and trains other doctors in the further deepening of their clinical skills through her work as a clinical supervisor and education supervisor for doctors specialising in child & adolescent psychiatry. Dr Mitra has also held lecturer and fellowship posts at Imperial College University contributing to undergraduate medical training.
Dr Mitra is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry’s Digital Psychiatry and Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Special Interest Groups, and she regularly contributes to their programmes. Within her NHS role Dr Mitra also presents and facilitates discussions in parent forums.
Dr Mitra collaborates in our centre’s multidisciplinary setting which delivers the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) and ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised) or 3Di (Developmental, Dimensional & Diagnostic Interview) as pioneered by the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, for formal diagnoses of Autism where required.
She thoroughly enjoys working with neurodivergent clients and takes a highly collaborative, warm and engaging approach to support young people and their families.
Dr Mitra’s General Medical Council (GMC) registration is 7021264 and she is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) and is Section 12 (2) Approved under the Mental Health Act.
