Dr Sanjay Nelson MD MRCPsych

Dr Sanjay Nelson is a Consultant Psychiatrist (medical doctor) specialising in supporting adults with neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD and Autism) and learning disabilities. The diagnostic assessment and treatment of adults with ADHD and/or Autism is Dr Nelson’s specialist area of interest and he has made this the focus of his career.

Alongside his work here at The Giaroli Centre, Dr Nelson serves as the Clinical Director for Learning Disability services at the East London NHS Foundation Trust.

With over 15 years of experience in psychiatry and in the NHS, Dr Nelson is known for his exceptional clinical skills in managing clients with complex needs. In his role, Dr Nelson provides holistic care to clients and offers clinical leadership to the four learning disability teams within his NHS trust. As a dedicated educator, Dr Nelson delivers teaching and training to multidisciplinary teams and is an educational supervisor for core and higher specialist trainee doctors. His involvement in research work and quality improvement projects demonstrates his commitment to continuous service improvement and personal development.

Dr Nelson’s warm nature and approach to patient care allow him to offer unwavering support to the clients he treats. His client centred approach and diverse range of skills and techniques in diagnosing and treating neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD and Autism) means that he offers an individual and personalised service to each client. Dr Nelson is active in taking part in research, developmental educational studies, and has been highly publicised during his career.

Dr Nelson’s General Medical Council (GMC) registration is 6040612 and he is on the Specialist Register as a Consultant in Learning Disabilities Psychiatry. Dr Nelson is also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych).
